Overwhelmed with Generosity

I work for a Charity that dedicates most of its efforts to running Food Banks.

This December we have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the community over 10 metric tonnes of food and gifts have came through the door and close to £20,000 in financial donations.

This is crazy in the best possible way. Our staff and volunteers have been stretched as far as possible to help deal with this wave of generosity.

We have barely had any walking room in our unit for weeks and have had to borrow a storage facility to accommodate it all.

This year we also increased what we sent out, everyone visiting the food banks got a Christmas Dinner, a hamper and every child on our lists got a present and an advent calender.

For the next few years it seems as though Food banks like ours will remain a fixture but I can see that it doesn’t have to be. Hopefully one day in the near future no-one will need to be referred to the food bank. Till then thank you to everyone who supports them across the country.
